Douglas Fir (Pseudotsuga menzeisii)
The Douglas fir is still a popular choice for a Christmas tree because of its fragrant scent and affordability. It is a bushy tree when pruned and has medium green, dark green or blue-green needles that radiate in all direction from the branch. The Douglas fir is a lighter weight tree and naturally grows in a cone-shape. It will easily support light weight to medium weight ornaments, and with care it will last 3 to 4 weeks after being cut. Douglas fir hold up well during handling and shipping.
